Tengo una lista de lugares por visitar, uno de esos destinos era Gracias, Lempira, la cual esta ubicada en el occidente de Honduras. Esta ciudad fue fundada en 1536 y después de estar en el olvido durante mucho tiempo nuevamente resurge con abundante esplendor.
El trayecto esta lleno de paisajes verdosos y vistas magnificas y para quienes se preguntan de la carretera pues esta en muy buen estado por lo que les será fácil el acceso, dividiré el viaje en varios posts así que no se pierdan el resto de ellas 😉
De las primeras cosas que note al llegar y que sin duda cautivo mi corazón fue que el casco histórico esta muy bien conservado y limpio, desde las casas las cuales en su mayoría conservan ese tejado colonial, el mercado, y hasta el parque central, aparte que se puede disfrutar de un ambiente sano. Alrededor hay algunos restaurantes y también tiendas de helado donde puedes comer el almuerzo o simplemente refrescarte un poco ya que hace muchísimo calor.
Como les comentaba del clima, les recomiendo llevar ropa ligera y cómoda, más si vas a recorrer la ciudad caminando (lo cual debes), yo opte por un par de shorts (que use en todo el viaje haha) una camiseta y una bandana improvisada para el sudor 😛 [Sigue leyendo abajo]
I have a list of places to visit, one of the destinies was Gracias, Lempira, which is located in the west of Honduras. This city was founded in 1536 and after being forgotten during a long time and once again resurfaced with abundant splendor.
The road is filled with greenish landscapes and magnificent views and for those who wonder how the road is well it is in good maintenance so the access is easy,I will split the journey in several posts so don’t miss the rest of them 😉
One of the first things I noticed when I got there and that without a doubt captured my heart was the historical centre was well conserved and clean, from the houses which the majority has colonial rooftops, the market and even the central park, besides you can enjoy a good environment. In the surroundings there are some restaurants and also ice cream stores where you can have lunch or a refreshener because it’s a really hot weather.
Like I was saying about the weather, I reccommend you wearing light and comfy clothing, in case you’re walking through the city (wish you should), I decided wearing a pair of shorts (that I use the whole journey) a shirt and a improvised bandana for the sweat 😛 [Continue reading below]
Hay varios hoteles muy céntricos como el Guancascos y Posada de Don Juan, los cuales son muy acogedores. Una vez ingresados en el hotel no perdimos el tiempo y nos dirigimos a las Aguas Termales, que son un MUST si visitas esta zona, son vertientes naturales con temperaturas de 33 C a 36 C (92 F-96F), definitivamente te relajas al máximo, mi recomendación es ir de mañana que esta fresco o de noche y si vas por la tarde usa abundante bloqueador solar. Sino tienes auto puedes llegar en mototaxi.
Por la noche decidimos regresar al parque a tomar algo y a buscar de cenar, fue muy placentero poder caminar de noche sin temor a ser asaltado, la gente es muy amable y puedes ver a las personas vendiendo comida y a los niños jugando. Para cenar visitamos “La Leyenda de los Confines”, totalmente recomendado si deseas una atención más especialidad y platillos más elaborados.

Once we checked in we didn’t waste time and we headed to the thermal waters, that are a MUST if you visit this area, there are natural slopes with temperatures of 33 C a 36 C (92 F-96F), definitely you’ll relax, mi recomendation is going in the morning or night that the weather is fresh and if you go in the night use abundant sunblock. If you don’t have a car you vvan get there in mototaxi.
By night we decided to go back to the park to have a drink and get some dinner, it was very pleasant being able to walk by night without fear of being assaulted, the people is so kind and you can see them selling food and the children playing. For dinner we visited “La Leyenda de los Confines”, totally recommended if you want specialized atenttion and more elaborated dishes.
